I purchased this desk for my 14 yr old and he loves it! It was easy to assemble, great quality, and it’s still holding up.

I want to just give a bit of an explanation to my title before I get into specifics-
This desk is a pretty decent size, has quite a bit of space for storage and it really isn’t bad looking either. For the very affordable price of $65, you get what you pay for here. If your expectations are realistic and you don’t expect a Zuri, Heckman, HM or PB desk, then this really isn’t a bad piece at all. Is it going to last a lifetime? Probably not, especially if is being used by a kid/teen. But an adult should get pretty decent use out of this desk.
We have a bonus/game room here, and while one side is filled with the ‘fun’ stuff, we have a space on the other side that is office like with desks, work/art tables and supplies galore. I like to move around a lot when I’m working, so I go down there from time to time, but it is the premier spot for the kids to go do their work. We had the room to add another desk and, considering this is the house that all the kids come hang out at, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to add another workspace.
The desk arrived super quick in a large and cumbersome, but not terribly heavy box. Inside, the pieces were wrapped/protected decent, but needed a good cleaning before I started putting everything together. One of the things I found interesting is the variety of materials used to make this desk. You have engineered wood/particle board, there is metal (powder coated iron? steel?) and there are quite a few plastic pieces as well. While plastic isn’t my first choice for flat pack furniture connections, it wasn’t hard for me to find sturdy metal equivalents to use instead. Could I have used the plastic pieces? Absolutely! And the desk would have been just fine too. But I had to consider who would most likely be using this (teenagers) and I wanted the extra strength. I am also handy, so it wasn’t too difficult to swap the pieces and reinforce the desk. I already had most of the stuff I needed at the house, but figured if I had to go out and buy all the extra reinforcements and metal pieces, it would cost about $9.
Assembly wasn’t too bad. All of the parts and pieces are labeled and the directions are decent. It took me about 30 minutes to get this together (plus another 10-15 to get the additional reinforcements on). I will say this though- This is one of those flat pack pieces where it is crucial to pay very close attention to the orientation of each and every piece. It’s not the worst idea to get it all planned/laid out in advance before you start screwing things together. You want to think 4-5 steps ahead the entire time too. If you don’t, you will end up with unused/unfilled and unsightly holes all around the desk. There aren’t any plugs or stickers to fill in the screw holes as they are, so you definitely do not want any blank holes floating around. When this is properly assembled, you won’t have any blank spaces.
As I had mentioned earlier, this isn’t a bad looking desk at all. It is clean and streamlined. It is pretty spacious too, with a nice amount of room for working and studying. The riser has enough space for a monitor and an extra screen or an over sized/large monitor. One of the things I found interesting about that riser (besides the fact that it can go on or under the desk) is that it isn’t screwed/secured in place. I think this is cool because it allows you to move it, forward, back, or even at a diagonal, to get it in a spot that is most comfortable for you. The shelf towards the bottom will keep a computer tower off the ground and therefore less dusty. I was quite pleased when I realized I could fit a small printer down there too. We had no problem finding baskets that fit on the small side shelf (which is adjustable) keeping necessary school/office supplies tidy and tucked away. While I would have loved for this to have a pull out keyboard shelf, there is more than enough room on the surface itself for a laptop or keyboard (I did end up buying a pull down keyboard attachment though).
Now… Is this the most solid/sturdy desk on the planet? No, not exactly. But again you get what you pay for and for $65, this really isn’t bad at all. Sure it might wobble a little bit if it gets bumped, but is the desk going to go crashing to the ground taking everything with it? Not even close. I think it is important to balance out the weight on here, not overloading it with heavy equipment though. It really doesn’t take or cost a lot more though to add some additional supports (metal brackets). They can easily be hidden too.
Matter of fact, there are A LOT of very cool upgrades/add ons you can make to this desk (like the keyboard tray/slider, extra shelves, hooks or risers, etc). It’s got the space and structure to work with so its easy to turn this into a custom piece.
The more I talk about the positive qualities of this desk, the more I like it to be honest. It has worked out very well for us, even with careless teenagers and a massive 180lb Cane Corso bumping into it constantly. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this purchase.

I have no idea why they used so many plastic pieces to attach the various parts of the table. In reality, this significantly impacts the table’s stability. I must acknowledge that the planks on the table are advantageous as they provide additional space. However, the most crucial aspect of a table is stability. It is advisable to choose a table that uses metal to connect the key parts.
